Victoria v KTBC September 18

Keith BastonFriendly Match

Kingsbridge Town played their last match of the season when they visited Victoria at Torquay on Saturday. A feature of the season has been Town’s lack of staying power but in this match the roles were reversed as they turned a 13 shot deficit, 30-43, at 11 ends into a 10 shot win by 67-57.

This was due to great fightbacks on 2 rinks. John Yeabsley’s team was 5-13 down at 11 ends but a count of 5 and 2 counts of 4 changed the match as they won by 4 shots. `Similarly, Kevin Moore’s rink was 3-12 down after 8 ends but a run of 9 shots in the 2nd half reduced the deficit to just one shot. Tim Lewis’s rink was level 6-all at the break but they pulled away in the 2nd half to win by 8 shots. On the rink skipped by Eric Fitch a very tight game was played with the home side winning by one shot on the last end.

Details:- Tony Walters, Ray Lancaster, Tim Lewis won 19-11. Sandra Brayne, Steve Ellis, John Yeabsley won 22-18. Bill Rockey, Tracey Moore, Kevin Moore lost 15-16. Sue Allen, Keith Brayne, Eric Fitch lost 11-12.
