Having won here last season, Town travelled to Victoria, Torquay with high hopes but these were soon dashed as the home side ran up a 19-52 half time lead. After the break Town fought back but the damage had been done, losing the match by 47-87.
On Town’s only winning rink, skipped by Eric Fitch, Town was 8-12 down after 13 ends but 8 shots in the next 4 ends gave them a 1 shot win. On the rinks skipped by Kevin Moore and Keith Baston, poor 1st halves 3-18 and 5-17 were both reduced to 6 shot defeats. John Yeabsley’s opposing skip was called Slaughter and this proved to be prophetic as they won on only 5 ends.
