Town finally broke their duck when they travelled to Stoke Fleming for a Friendly Match. In the last 2 matches, Town have thrown leads away and history nearly repeated itself. Town was 39-25 up at half time but the match was only decided on the final end, as the visitors won by 71 shots to 69.
On Keith Baston’s rink, Town held a 15-4 lead at 10 ends but Stoke pulled the score back to 15-9 before the visitors had 2 counts of 3 shots to win by 11. Similarly, Kevin Moore’s rink held a 12-3 lead but a count of 5 by the home side gave them impetus as they levelled at 15-all on the 15th end. Town then fought back with counts of 3 and 7 to win by 9 shots. On the pairs rink, skipped by John Yeabsley, a very tight match ended with a 1 shot victory. Ray Lancaster’s threesome was 10-14 down at 13 ends but the wheels then fell off as the home side scored 15 shots in the last 5 ends.
