This is the Club’s main charity event and all the money is in aid of Cancer Research UK.
This event was originally planned for 29 July but bad weather on the day and lack of available dates forced the club to hold it on a Club Night. However, we were blessed with a nice warm evening and the players were put through their paces in a Bowls Drive organised by David Thorne. Players drew different partners every 4 ends and the last match followed the Crown Green code where bowls can be sent anywhere on the rink. This brought great hilarity to the proceedings. The eventual winner was Tim Lewis who won a bottle of wine for his efforts.
The players were then treated to a buffet dinner courtesy of President Pierre Verniquet and Captain Keith Baston. The meal was organised by Carole Baston with help from Colin and Susan Baker. This enabled the usual organisers Sue Allen and Marion Thorne to have a night off and enjoy their bowls.
A raffle was held and all members brought prizes and this raised £108.
Overall the evening was a great success and a total of £209 was raised for this worthy cause.
