Town played their first match in a fortnight when they travelled to Paignton Torbay for a Mixed triples match. Last week’s match at Kingsbridge Park was postponed due to the weather but conditions on Saturday were ideal for bowling.
At the half way mark Town had opened up a 31-23 advantage but a disastrous 14th end turned the match around as the home side gained 9 shots to lead by 5 shots 46-51. With nothing to lose, Town came back firing in the last 3 ends to score 9 shots against the hosts 3 to win by 58-54.
On Keith Baston’s rink, Town opened up a 17-5 lead at 13 ends but 2 counts of 4 by the home side gave them hope but 4 shots in the last 3 ends gave the visitors an 8 shot win. On John Yeabsley’s rink a very tight game ensued, 9-all with 3 to play, but 5 shots in the last 3 ends gave Town a 5 shot victory. Kevin Moore’s rink were 10-3 up after 7 ends but the hosts then won 5 ends on the trot to pip Town by one shot. On the rink skipped by Tim lewis, Town led 8-7 after 11 ends but 9 shots in 5 ends by Torbay gave them an 8 shot win.
