Lee Moor v KTBC September 5

Keith BastonFriendly Match

Kingsbridge Town made the journey to Lee Moor for a Mixed Friendly match on Sunday. It was cold and misty at Kingsbridge so they packed their winter woollies but on arrival they were greeted with warm sunshine and perfect playing conditions. Due to a misunderstanding, Town turned up with an extra player so John Yeabsley and Sandra Brayne changed places at the interval.

At tea, Town were leading by 6 shots, 40-34, but a strong 2nd half performance by the home side turned the tables as they prevailed by 61-77.

On Town’s only winning rink, Tim Lewis’s team scored a count of 7 on the 7th end to lead 14-7 at the break but the hosts came back to lead 15-17  before Town scored 3 on the last 2 ends to win by 1 shot. Keith Baston’s rink was involved in a very tight match as they were pipped by a single shot. On John Yeabsley’s rink, Town led 13-6 after 13 ends but the home side then scored 11 shots in the  next 3 ends to win by 5 shots. Eric Fitch’s rink had a poor start, 1-10 down after 9 ends but they rallied to 7-11 before dropping a count of 6 to lose by 11shots.
