Kingsbridge Town entertained Yealmpton on Friday 29 July in the South Hams Triples League. The match had been reorganised as the original fixture in June was rained off. Everything seemed to be in favour of the visitors as they held an overall lead of 9 shots after 12 ends but Town then got their act together as 20 shots were scored in the last 6 ends to gain an improbable victory by 37-28.

On Keith Baston’s rink, a count of 4 gave them a 7-2 advantage at 5 ends but steady play by the away side gave them an 8-11 lead at 12 ends. The scores were level at 12-all with 2 to play but a count of 7 shots by the home side on the penultimate end proved to be the difference. On Eric Fitch’s rink a tight game ensued with the scores level at 9-all after 9 ends but Yealmpton scored 6 shots to lead 9-15 at the 12th end. However, the visitors did not score again as 9 shots were achieved in the last 6 ends to give Town a win by 3 shots. As both rinks won, Town picked up 6 league points to the visitors nil.
