KTBC v Dartmouth [SDMBL] September 9

Keith BastonSouth Devon Mixed Bowling League

After a disappointing campaign, Town played their last match in the South Devon Mixed Bowling League and they certainly saved their best till last when they entertained Dartmouth. Earlier in the season Dartmouth thrashed Town on their artificial carpet but they met their match on Town’s grass rink as the home side won on all 3 rinks with a final score of 57-21, winning all 8 league points.
Because of the very hot conditions, it was decided to play 14 ends rather than the normal 18.
On the rink manned by Reg Anning, Tracey Moore and Keith Baston, Town came roaring out of the blocks to lead 12-1 at the interval and this continued in the 2nd half as Dartmouth were restricted to just 2 singles. The other 2 rinks were involved in closer affairs with both winning by 6 shots. Ray Lancaster’s trio was 6-4 up at the break but they pulled away in the 2nd half with counts of 3 and 4 to win 16-10. Similarly, Eric Fitch’s rink was only 5-4 up at the break but 9 shots in the next 4 ends made the difference.
Details:- Reg Anning, Tracey Moore, Keith Baston won 26-2. Colin Harvey, Peter Hanford, Ray Lancaster won 16-10. Dee White, Keith Brayne, Eric Fitch won 15-9.
