Town hosted top of the table Dartmouth in the South Devon Mixed Bowling League and despite putting up a great fight lost by 48-57. Town came flying out of the traps and built an 18-6 lead after 5 ends but parity was obtained by the visitors by the break, 26-all, and they went on to win a hard fought match by 9 shots. Town therefore earned 2 league points against 6 by the visitors.
Kevin Moore’s rink was 8-2 up after 7 ends but 8 shots in 3 ends by the visitors brought the scores level. Dartmouth then went on to lead 13-16 but 4 shots on the last end gave Town victory. Keith Baston’s trio was 6-1 up after 4 ends but a disastrous count of 6 on the next end made the difference as the home side lost by 5 shots. Similarly, Eric Fitch’s side was 8-0 up after 5 ends but 5 counts of 3 by the visitors gave them the points.
