Kingsbridge Town put away their bowls last Saturday and let their hair down to take part in a Games Evening at the Clubhouse. This involved a Round Robin of 6 games played by 12 teams of 2 players, who were drawn together. The games consisted of Bar Skittles, Carpet Bowls, Putting, Quoits, Shut the Box , Bounce Off and Name the Game. Three of the games were designed and constructed by Keith Brayne and he organised the games with his wife Sandra and Events Organiser Sue Allen. A buffet meal was provided by Sue Allen and Marion Thorne and a raffle was organised by Carole Baston .
The matches were played with much hilarity and great rivalry and no quarter was given. When all the scores were counted, 2 teams were found to have equal scores and a tie-breaker was held on the putting rink. The event was won by Alick Ponting and Andy Chapman, who beat Marion Thorne and Graham Allen with the final putt. Alick and Andy were presented with bottles of wine for their efforts and the victorious pair were captured for posterity in the attached photograph.
The evening was a great success and produced a profit in excess of £300 for the Club Funds.
