This is a very special season for Kingsbridge Town as the club celebrates its Centenary. Several events have been organised during the season to mark the occasion. On Saturday 6 May the club will hold a Gin and Jazz Night at West Charleton Village Hall at 7pm. Becky Brine will be the star attraction backed up by a jazz band. Gin cocktails will be available and the price is £15 per head. Tickets are available from the organiser, Sue Allen on 531045. On Tuesday 13 June, Town will host a match with Devon President’s team and a Hog Roast will be held at the club on Saturday 15 July.
The club has raised over £4000 in sponsorship and all members will receive a special Centenary shirt. The main sponsors are Beers Solicitors, Southern Timber, Moysey’s Interiors, Charles Head, Jewsons, Toad Hall Cottages, AGL Accountants, Stratton Creber, Cottage Hotel, Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club and Salcombe Masons. Many other organisations have made contributions for which the club is very grateful. This has enabled the club to carry out work on the green and the Clubhouse and invest in new equipment.
The first event of the season was a Quiz Night last week at the Clubhouse. Quizmaster Nigel produced his usual mixture of teasers and the event was organised by Sue Allen with great help from husband Graham and Marion and David Thorne. Pasties were provided at the interval along with a free glass of wine. The club would like to thank Carole Baston for running the raffle. The evening raised over £300 for club funds.
