Abbrook Park v KTBC July 29

Keith BastonFriendly Match

On Saturday Town travelled to Abbrook Park for a Friendly Triples match. The return match at Kingsbridge ended in a 56-all draw so a close encounter was expected. This did not come to fruition as the home side opened up a 13 shot lead at the break, 25-38, but a closely contested 2nd half meant that they added only 2 more shots to win by 56-71.
Town’s best rink, skipped by Ray Lancaster, was 0-4 down after 4 ends but 10 shots by the visitors in the next 4 ends gave them a 4 shot lead which was maintained to the end. Despite a very tight 1st half, Eric Fitch’s rink found themselves 8-14 down after 14 ends but 6 shots in the last 4 ends gave them parity at 14-all. Keith Brayne’s trio was always playing catch up as they went 8-16 down at 12 ends but 3 counts of 2 at the end brought the deficit down to 5 shots. Keith Baston’s rink was 4-2 up at 4 ends but the home side took control with the help of 2 counts of 4 in the 2nd half, having been 2 shots down on both occasions.
