Town visited Yealmpton on Sunday for a Mixed Triples match. The club had not played for 2 weeks due to the weather but a steady start produced a 31-22 lead after 9 ends and an acceleration in the 2nd half to win the match by 72 shots to 43.
Eric Fitch’s rink was level 6-all after 9 ends but 15 shots after the break gave them a 21-8 win. The 1st half on Keith Baston’s rink was very tight, 8-6 up after 10 ends but a run of 10 unanswered shots gave them a 12 shot victory. Ray Lancaster’s rink raced away to lead 19-2 after 10 ends due to successive scores of 5 and 6 shots but the hosts fought back to restrict Town to a 12 shot win. On Town’s only losing rink, skipped by John Yeabsley, a close game was played, but 8 shots by the home side in the last 5 ends made the difference.
