After 6 consecutive wins, table topping Town travelled to bottom club Yealmpton with great hopes in their final South Hams Triples League match. Town needed 3 league points to retain the Trophy for the 4th consecutive year. Prospects looked good at the half way stage as Town held a 16-10 lead but then things went haywire as the home club fought back and the result was not decided until the last bowl. The result was a win for Yealmpton by one shot, 30-31 so Town  gained 2 league points to Yealmpton’s 4.

David Thorne’s rink was involved in a very tight match with the lead changing hands on 5 occasions. After 14 ends the scores were tied 11-all but the home club won 3 of the last 4 ends to come out on top by 2 shots. Keith Baston’s trio were 11-5 up after 12 ends but the hosts scored  3 on the next end and 2 counts of 4 to lead 14-16 with 1 end to play. Town were 1 shot up but still losing  with one bowl left but the jack was taken into the ditch for a count of 3 to gain a one shot victory and 2 valuable league points.

Details:- Steve Ellis, Geoff Bulbulian, Keith Baston won 17-16. Colin Baker, Keith Brayne, David Thorne lost 13-15.
