Having won their last 5 Mixed Triples matches, Town travelled to Victoria in Torquay with great hopes of finishing the season in style and they were not disappointed. At the half way stage, the scores were level 36-all but the visitors pulled away in the 2nd half to win by 5 shots, 72-67.
The victory was mainly due to a great 2nd half by Bill Rockey, Roy Krywko and David Thorne as an interval lead of 9-8 became 20-8 as a result of 11 consecutive shots as the home side could only muster 2 shots. Keith Brayne’s trio went into an 8-0 lead after 4 ends and this proved to be decisive as Town won by 5 shots, 20-15. Keith Baston’s rink held an early 3-1 lead but then dropped a count of 5 but a count of 4 on the 8th end achieved parity and the lead changed regularly as a fine match ended 17-17. Tim Lewis’s rink brought home the bacon last week but they came up against a strong side this time, losing by 13 shots despite holding a 6-2 lead after 5 ends.
