Victoria v KTBC 12 May

Keith BastonFriendly Match

After last week’s winning start, Town travelled to Victoria in Torquay with great hopes but despite being only one shot down at half time, things slipped away as the home side accelerated to win 69-49.
David Thorne’s rink was involved in a very tight tussle, 7-6 up at the break, and this was extended to 14-10 with 2 ends left but the opposing skip took the jack through for 2 shots on the last end and this gave them a 1 shot win. Keith Baston’s trio were 8-3 up at the break but a run of 8 sots in the next 6 ends gave the home side the lead as they eventually won by 4 shots. Tim Lewis’s threesome were 3-0 up but Victoria then scored 9 shots in the next 4 ends and this advantage was maintained with another 4 shot victory. Eric Fitch’s rink were leading 8-6 after 6 ends but the same pattern ensued as the home side went into a 8-16 lead to be followed by a count of 7 on the penultimate end. So, despite being in a good position, the wheels fell off for the whole team in the 2nd half.
