Totnes v KTBC [Summers Trophy] 13 May

Keith BastonFriendly Match

Last Saturday, 13 May , Town travelled to Totnes for the first leg of the Summers Trophy. Having won the trophy for the last 2 seasons, Town were hoping to complete the hat trick but Totnes had other ideas and they now go into the 2nd leg in August at Eastern Backway with an advantage of 15 shots as they won on all 4 rinks. The damage was done in the first 5 ends as Town found difficulty in adjusting to the surface and an 8 shot advantage was gained by the home side. Town held their own after this and they feel they can turn things round in the 2nd leg .

Eric Fitch’s rink was involved in a tight match but a count of 5 to the home side on the 4th end proved costly as they won by 2 shots. David Thorne’s rink was 14-8 up at the 10th end but 9 shots by Totnes in the next 3 ends gave them a 3 shot victory. On Tim Lewis’s rink the home side were 7 up at end 11 but Town closed the gap to 4 shots at the finish. Keith Baston’s rink struggled early on but 4 shots in the last 3 ends brought the difference back to 6 shots.
