Totnes v KTBC 5 August

Keith BastonFriendly Match

Town  travelled to Totnes for the 2nd Leg of the Summers Trophy. The away side had won the home leg by 89-42 so only a landslide could deny Town the overall spoils. In the event, Town lost narrowly on all 4 rinks as Totnes won by 51-66, giving Town an aggregate victory of 140-108. The Trophy was therefore retained for the 4th consecutive season.

On Keith Baston’s rink, Town were leading 12-9 with 2 ends to play but a count of 3 on the last end gave the home side a 1 shot win. In another tight game, Eric Fitch’s rink was 12-11 with 2 to play but they also dropped shots to lose 12-14. David Thorne’s rink was 6-all at the half way mark but Totnes then took control to lead 8-13. Town then scored a count of 4 to give hope but this was snuffed as a count of 3 gave the home side the win. On the rink skipped by Tim Lewis, a count of 7  gave them a 12-8 lead at the break but another count of 7 by the home side gave them a comfortable victory.
