Town visited Plympton hoping to add to their run of 3 consecutive victories and after a hard fought game they came out on top by 73 shots to 58.
Eric Fitch’s rink made a good start, 5-0 after 3 ends and this was still the difference after 14 ends,14-9, but Town then scored a count of 5 on the next end and 3 single gave them a 22-9 win. Similarly, on the rink skipped by Keith Baston, Town led 6-1 after 3 ends and this was extended to 18-7 at the 14th end but 7 shots by the home side brought the winning margin down to 6, 20-14. Things did not go quite so well on the other 2 rinks but the shot difference was kept to a minimum. David Thorne’s rink led 12-4 after 10 ends but Plympton then scored 11 shots to lead 12-15. Town then scored 5 in the next 2 end to regain the lead but a count of 3 gave the home side victory by 1 shot. Tom Lewis’s trio were 2-10 down after 7 ends but 9 shots in the next 3 ends gave them the lead 11-10 but 4 shots by the hosts in the last 3 ends shaded it by 14-17.
