Town’s woes continued when they travelled to Paignton for a Mixed Friendly. Their cause was not helped when 2 players reported sick on the day of the match and Town was grateful that the home side provided a player to equalise the sides.
Town’s only successful rink, skipped by Keith Brayne, was 10-3 ahead after 10 ends but 5 shots by the home team in the next 3 ends brought the deficit down to 2 shots and this proved to be the margin of the victory. In a seesaw match, Ray Lancaster’s rink was 3-16 down after 10 ends but a great fightback, including counts of 5 and 7 shots brought the sides level at 19-all. Despite this fine effort, Paignton ran out winners by 5 shots. Sad to say, but the other 2 rinks were never in the hunt, losing by 19 and 23 shots respectively.
Details:- Ron Coyde, Geoff Bulbulian, Keith Brayne won 13-11. Bill Schirn, Steve Ellis, Ray Lancaster lost 19-24. Colin Harvey, Sandra Brayne, Eric Fitch lost 6-25. Jocelyn Schirn, Tony Walters, John Yeabsley lost 4-27.
Final score 42-87.
