Kingsbridge Town travelled to Paignton Torbay last week for a Triples Friendly hoping to complete the double as Town won the corresponding fixture at home. Things looked bad for the visitors at half time as Paignton led by 8 shots, 28-36 but a great performance on 2 rinks in the 2nd half gave Town a fine victory by 67-61.
Tim Lewis’s rink started poorly, 2-8 down after 6 ends but 2 counts of 3 made the score 9-12 at 12 ends and they took complete control of the next 5 ends, scoring 9 shots to win by 18-13. David Thorne’s rink also came back from 5-14 at 11 ends to win 19-17, with 5 shots coming in the final end. Steve Emery’s rink was 11-4 up at 10 ends but the home side fought back to cut the deficit to 2 shots. Kevin Moore’s threesome was involved in a very close match, 14-all at 13 ends but a count of 2 by the home side on the last end nicked the match by 3 shots.
