Kingsbridge Town opened their green on Wednesday 20 April. New President Keith Baston bowled the first wood and declared the green open for the new season. This was followed by a practice roll-up and another was held on Saturday.
Town have entered a new league for this season which is to be called the South Devon Mixed Bowling League. The matches will consist of 3 triples plus an extra rink for newer bowlers which does not contribute to the total. The other teams are Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth, Ipplepen, Kingsbridge Park and Kingsteignton.The first match is a friendly at Plymstock on Monday May 9 and the first league match will be at Kingsteignton on Monday 16 May.
Work has been carried out on the green during the close season. It was only laid in 2020 and it is hoped that last season’s teething problems have been overcome.
If anyone is interested in joining the club you will be made welcome at out club night on Wednesdays at 6pm on Eastern Backway. Also there will be practice roll-ups on Saturday 30 April, 7 May and 14 May at 2pm. All we ask is that you wear flat shoes as bowls will be provided.
