Kingsbridge Town played host to Yealmpton in their first match of the season in the South Hams Triples League. Both rinks followed a similar pattern as they both had good starts, poor middle sections and great finishes. The match was evenly poised at half time. 14-all but Town then accelerated to win overall by 42-25.
Keith Baston’s trio held a 5-0 lead after 3 ends but the visitors scored 8 shots in the next 5 ends to lead 5-8. Town pulled back to 10-all at 13 ends and then powered home with the help of a count of 6 in the penultimate end. Similarly, David Thorne’s rink held a 8-1 lead at 5 ends but then dropped 8 shots in 5 ends to trail 8-9. However, 8 shots in the next 3 ends gave them the edge and a 6 shot victory.
