Kingsbridge Town welcomed Yealmpton On Sunday for the 1st Leg of the Cup Competition between the 2 sides and then amassed a lead of 45 shots to take into the 2nd leg as Town ran out winners by 89-44. Town won on all 4 rinks and the best performance was by David Thorne’s trio. From 9-6 on end 7 a count of 5 was scored and this proved to be the catalyst as the visitors managed only 3 more singles as Town won by 27-9. Kevin Moore’s rink came straight out of the block to take a 7-0 lead at end 5 and steady scoring in the last half gave a 20-8 win. On the rink skipped by Eric Fitch a tightly fought start gave Town a 6-3 lead at 8 ends but a count of 4 on the next end made the difference as the home side won by 5 shots. The other match was a much closer affair as a 6-0 lead at the 4th end was reversed by the visitors with 7 shots in the next 4 ends. Shots were then traded equally as the score stood at 15-all with qne end to play but Town held their nerve to win the last end.
