Town entertained Yealmpton in the 2nd leg of the Cup Competition between the Clubs. Town held a healthy lead of 24 shots from the 1st Leg at Yealmpton after a great comeback in the 2nd half so hopes were high. The match was very similar to the 1st Leg as Yeampton held a 3 shot lead at half time but Town then found another gear to win by 79-58 on the day and by 158-113 overall. Town therefore retained the Trophy for the 5th consecutive season.

Town’s most successful rink, skipped by David Thorne, led by 12-7 at the break but 2 counts of 4 in the 2nd half extended the lead to 15 shots. A seesaw match was played on Tim Lewis’s rink with the lead changing hands on 4 occasions but 7 shots in the last 2 ends gave the home side a 9 shot win. The other 2 rinks were both well down at the half way stage but both staged recoveries as Eric Fitch’s rink scored 8 shots to draw and Keith Baston’s trio scored 9 in the last 5 ends to bring the deficit down to 3.

Details:- Joan Kendall, Roy Krwyko, David Thorne won 27-14. Sue Allen, Keith Brayne, Tim Lewis won 23-14, Marion Thorne, Jim Balsdon, Eric Fitch drew 14-14. Roy Kendall, Sandra Brayne, Keith Baston lost 15-18.
