On Saturday, Town played their last home game of the season when Victoria from Torquay came visiting. They always put up a good contest and this proved to be no exception. At the half way point Town held a slender 1 shot advantage at 29-28 but Town pulled away on 3 of the rinks to record an overall victory by 71-47.
David Thorne’s rink was 4-all after 6 ends but the visitors were restricted to only 3 more shots as Town powered to a 16 shot win. Similarly. on Keith Brayne’s rink, the score was 3-4 after 6 ends but 6 shots in the next 2 ends gave the impetus for a home side victory by 12 shots. Eric Fitch’s trio staged an even better comeback as a 4-9 deficit was reversed by 11 shots in the next 5 ends to lead 15-9 and this proved to be the difference. On Town’s only losing rink an early score of 1-6 was pulled back to 9-10 at 12 ends but the visitors held out for a 9 shot win.
