Kingsbridge Town played host to Totnes on Sunday in the 2nd Leg of the Summers Trophy. Having won the first leg at Totnes by 22 shots, Town were very confident in retaining the Trophy and this proved to be the case as they won the match 86-51 to give an aggregate score of 168-111.
Eric Fitch’s rink was only 9-6 up at half time but scores of 5 and 6 in the 2nd half gave them a 19 shot victory. A similar scenario evolved on Steve Ellis’s rink as an interval lead of 8-4 was increased by counts of 6 on the 10th end and 5 on the last to give a final score of 25-8. David Thorne’s rink was 16-3 up at 13 ends but the visitors fought back by scoring 11 shots in the last 5 ends as Town edged the match by 2 shots. Keith Baston’s rink was 6-15 down at the half way stage but 8 shots were picked up in the next 2 ends to make the score 14-15. The home team got their noses in front 18-17 with 2 to play but 4 shots by the visitors gave them a narrow win by 3 shots.
