Town played their first match of the season when the hosted Plymstock in a Friendly Triples match. Town were quickly out of the blocks and a 14 shot was held at the half way point with the scores at 36-22. After tea Plymstock fought back to be only 5 shots down at end 13 but a final flourish by Town gave them a 75-53 victory. David Thorne’s rink was most successful as 13 shots were picked up in the final 6 ends to win 22-9. Conversely, Keith Baston’s rink, 10 shots up at half time, dropped scores of 3 and 4but managed to win by 6 shots. Tim Lewis’s rink was coasting at 11-4 when the visitors scored 9 shots in 4 ends to lead 11-13  but 8 shots by Town in the last 4 ends pinched the match. On Jim Balsdon’s rink, Town were 10-17 down with 3 to play but a count of 5 in the penultimate end gave them parity.

Details:- Marion Thorne, Colin Baker, David Thorne won 22-9. Sue Allen, Bill Rockey, Keith Baston won 17-11. Roy Kendall, Ray Lancaster, Tim Lewis won 19-16. Pierre Verniquet, Steve Ellis, Jim Balsdon drew 17-17.
