Town made the best possible start to the season as they won both their opening matches.

In the first match on Thursday 16 May  they entertained Plymstock at Eastern Backway for a Mixed Triples Friendly.  The home side were quickly out of the blocks, building a 29 shot lead after 5 ends and eventually winning by 46 shots with a scoreline of 90-44. The early lead was due to an excellent start on the rinks skipped by Tim Lewis and Keith Baston with scores of 11-0 and 18-0 respectively with both rinks recording a count of 6 shots. The shots were then shared on both rinks as Town won with final scores of 23-12 and 27-10. On Eric Fitch’s rink there was a slow start as Town led by one shot after 7 ends but a count of 4 on the next end kick started a run of 15 shots as the home side won by 18 shots. Things were very different on David Thorne’s rink as Plymstock held a 4-9 lead at the break but a very tight 2nd half  culminated in 3 shots for Town to tie the match 16-all.
