Kingsbridge Town hosted Paignton hoping to extend their run of good results. Paignton have proved to be doughty opponents in recent years but they had no joy this season as Town won by large margins on 2 rinks. Town held a 20 shot lead at the half time break but the visitors did not compete in the 2nd half as the lead was extended by 46 shots to win by 103-37.
On Tim Lewis’s rink Town led 9-4 after 7 ends but counts of 4, 5 and 6 in the 2nd half gave Town a 29 shot advantage. On the rink skipped by David Thorne a 14-5 advantage at 7 ends was increased by 14 shots as the visitors were restricted to 4 shots in the 2nd half. Eric Fitch’s trio was 6-7 down at half time but the visitors scored only one shot in the 2nd half as the home side won by 12 shots. Keith Baston’s rink was 7-1 up after 6 ends but the visitors clawed it back to 7-all at the break. A very tight game ensued in the 2nd half but a draw to the jack with the final bowl got Town across the line.
