Kingsbridge Town welcomed neighbours Kingsbridge Park for the 2nd Leg of the Cup Competiion between the 2 sides. Town were 11 shots down from the 1st Leg and they hoped to make up the arrears as they did last season. Town led by one shot at half time and, at 56-49, were 7 shots up with only 4 ends to play but a great fightback by Park turned the tables as they prevailed 61-71 on the day to win overall by 21 shots and regain the trophy.
Town’s half time lead was mainly due to the efforts of Eric Fitch’s rink, who raced into an 18-1 lead against John Yeabsley’s trio but the shots were shared in the 2nd half as Town won by 18 shots. Keith Baston’s rink dropped a count of 4 on the 3rd end to John Fowler’s team to trail 1-8 at 5 ends but the visitors were restricted to only 3 more singles as the home side won 18-11. The other 2 rinks did not fare so well as Kevin Moore’s dropped a count of 6 on the 9th end to Richard Kerswell’s and Tim Lewis’s dropped 11 shots in the last 4 ends to lose to Ron Elson’s.
