Town’s men played their last match in the South Hams Triples League at home to Kingsbridge Park, needing to win by 33 shots to retain the Trophy that they had held for the last 5 years. They won on both rinks to take maximum points but the shot difference was not great enough to overtake Dartmouth who therefore won the league despite being level with Town on points.
Eric Fitch’s rink held a 17-3 advantage at 11 ends but Park came back with 8 shots in 3 ends to cut the deficit to 4 shots. David Thorne’s rink struggled early on, 9-10 down after 12 ends but 8 shots in the next 4 ends gave them a 5 shot victory.
Details:- Keith Brayne, Keith Baston, Eric Fitch won 19-15. Geoff Bulbulian, Tim Lewis, David Thorne won 17-12.
The final score was therefore 36-27 to Town, who achieved 6 league points. So congratulations to Dartmouth for winning a very tightly contested league by just 23 shots.
