Town entertained Abbrook Park from Newton Abbot for their first visit in a Friendly Triples match. After a poor start to the season Town were hopeful of a first win as they beat the opposition on their home rink last season. Despite this optimism, Town started very shakily as they were 8-20 down after 5 ends and 25-35 down at the interval.
In the 2nd half, invigorated by the tea and biscuits, Town came storming back and managed to force a draw, 56-all with 5 shots on the final end.
Town’s most successful rink, skipped by Kevin Moore was 7-8 down at the interval but the visitors were restricted to 3 shots in the 2nd half as Town won by 7 shots. Eric Fitch’s rink extended a 1 shot lead at the interval to 4 shots despite dropping a count of 3 on the last end. Keith Brayne’s trio were struggling 6-14 after 9 ends but a great effort reduced the difference to just 3 shots. After a good start, Keith Baston’s rink dropped 7 consecutive shots in the 2nd half to lose 10-18.
