Town played their 1st match of the new season at near neighbours Kingsbridge Park in the 1st leg of the Cup Competition between the sides. Although Town was only 7 shots down at halftime, 28-35. Park pulled away in the 2nd half to win by 45-84.
Eric Fitch’s rink was involved in a very close match and were leading 14-9 after 14 ends but the home side scored 6 shots in the next 3 ends ti secure a 15-15 draw. Tony Walter’s rink was also closely fought but a count of 4 on the penultimate end made the difference. Keith Baston’s rink led 7-1 after 4 ends after a count of 5 but Park levelled the match by the break and 2 counts of 4 in the 2nd half gave them the advantage. Ray Lancaster’s rink was only 5-10 down at the break but but Park ran riot in the 2nd half with 2 counts of 5 and 3 counts of 3 to win by 22 shots.
