Duncombe Trophy v Plympton and Lee Moor 2 September

It was a beautiful day on Sunday so Town finally managed to play their tripartite match with Plympton and Lee Moor  for the Duncombe Trophy which had to be postponed due to the deluge on 2 July. Plympton were the holders, having won at Lee Moor last season, but Town soon showed their intensions as their 3 matches in the morning session went their way and this was followed by 4 more victories in the remaining 5 matches. The final score was Kingsbridge Town 14 points, Lee Moor 6 points, Plympton 4 points. A delicious lunch and tea were organised by Marion and David Thorne and the preparation was by Carole Baston, Heather Fitch, Susan Baker and Sandra Brayne.

Details:- Singles. Eric Fitch beat Plympton 26-20 and Lee Moor 20-9. Pairs. Colin Baker and David Thorne beat Plympton 22-7 and Lee Moor 29-3. Triples. Marion Thorne, Keith Brayne, Keith Baston beat Lee Moor 16-12 but lost 10-16 to Plympton. Rinks. Sandra Brayne, Ray Lancaster, Geoff Bulbulian, Roy Krywko beat Plympton 26-3 and Lee Moor 28-8. So Town regained the Trophy that they lost last season.
