Duncombe Trophy 2 July

Keith BastonFriendly Match

Town were the guests at  Lee Moor along with Plympton for the annual triangular Duncombe Trophy. This event is played with 10 players in singles, pairs, triples and rinks. Town won the match last year at Plympton and travelled with high hopes of retaining the trophy. As the home side failed to score a single point, the match turned out to be a close contest between Town and Plympton, with Plympton just edging ahead of Town on the last end of the pairs. Town’s singles player, Eric Fitch won both his matches whilst the pairs, triples and rinks all beat Lee Moor but lost to Plympton. The final score was Plympton 14 points. Town 10 points and Lee Moor 0 points. Lee Moor were ideal hosts and fine meals were provided at lunch and tea to the enjoyment of all the teams.
