Town’s match with Plymstock organised for last Thursday was cancelled as the proposed visitors could not raise a team, but Town put this disappointment behind them as they held a Dine and Dance evening last Saturday. The theme was the Roaring Twenties and West Charleton Village Hall was taken over by gangsterland for the evening. Notable attendees were Al Capone and Baby Face Nelson whilst Virginia Woolf, Noel Coward and Al Bowlly also put in an appearance. Music was provided by Becky Brine backed by David Barrow and the Gazunder Band. The evening was organised by Sue Allen with help from husband Graham, David and Marion Thorne and Bill and Jocelyn Schirn. A meal of Beef Bourguignon and Lemon Tart was served. Carole Baston, Moray Lewis and Christine Lancaster also helped with the cooking of the main course. A raffle was held, arranged by Peter and Julie Hadley. The evening was a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended.
