Town travelled to Buckfastleigh to meet Dartmouth in the final of the league’s Cup Competition with great trepidation as Dartmouth had beaten Town at home in the league only 7 days ago. Their fears proved to be groundless as a 4 shot lead at the interval, 20-16, was extended to a 21 shot victory in the 2nd half as they won by 56 shots to 35.
Town’s most successful rink, skipped by Keith Baston, was always in front as they restricted Dartmouth to just 5 winning ends. From 6-3 at the interval another 15 shots were added including a count of 5 on the 11th end to win by 21-5. Keith Brayne’s trio was 6 shots down at the break but they came storming back in the 2nd half to win by 4 shots. Kevin Moore’s rink let a 9-2 interval lead slip as they trailed 9-13 after 12 ends but they then recovered to win by 2 shots on the last end.
Details: Julie Hadley, Keith Collins, Keith Baston 21-5. Tony Walters, Steve Ellis, Keith Brayne 18-14. Tracey Moore, Ray Lancaster, Kevin Moore 17-15
