Town travelled to Abbrook Park for the first ever meeting between the 2 clubs in a Mixed Triples friendly. The match started in sunshine but heavy rain was forecast for later in the afternoon. The green was immaculate and Town soon found their feet as the held a 32-25 lead at the break. Unlike early season, the visitors held their nerve to win the match by 58 shots to 47. As expected, heavy rain arrived as 2 rinks had just finished so a halt was called to the proceedings.
A remarkable turn in fortunes occurred on Eric Fitch’s rink as the visitors found themselves 0-11 down after 6 ends but the home side were restricted to just 2 more shots as Town won by 4 shots, aided by 2 counts of 4 in the 2nd half. Keith Baston’s trio only played 15 ends but they shaded a tight match by 4 shots thanks to 2 counts of 3. Keith Brayne’s team was also involved in a close match but a count of 4 near the end made the difference as they won by 3 shots. On the rink skipped by Kevin Moore a 13-7 lead at end 12 was lost as the home side drew level on the final end.
